The Barangaroo design team is comprised of some of the most talented people in the design industry. Our designers are all leaders in their areas of expertise. This team is committed to the ambition of creating the world’s best place and a place loved and embraced by all Sydneysiders.
Whilst each company has a unique brief to fulfil and key roles and responsibilities to deliver, the Barangaroo design team has a history of cross-pollinating ideas resulting in the sum being far greater than the individual parts.

MASTER PLANNERS
Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSH+P)
RSH+P are responsible for creating the Master Plan for Barangaroo. The goal of the Master Plan is to develop Barangaroo so that it plays its role in catapulting Sydney to a Tier 1 city in the company of New York, Tokyo, London and Paris. RSH+P have created some of the world’s most exciting places. These include the Centre Pompidou, the headquarters for Lloyds of London, the European Court of Rights in Strasbourg, the Millennium Dome in London, the New Area Terminal at Madrid Barajas Airport and Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow Airport to name just a few. RSH+P has developed major Master Plan schemes in London, Lisbon, Berlin, New York and Seoul. Central to the philosophy of RSH+P is a commitment to the creation of public spaces that enliven and rejuvenate inner-city areas.

PRINCIPAL AUSTRALIAN ARCHITECTS
PTW
PTW Architects is an Australian firm with extensive international experience and operations. They have offices in Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Abu Dhabi. The group will play an intrinsic role in the design effort of allowing the international design team to harness the Australian context of the project and blend this with their international perspectives.PTW Architects have a track record of delivering considered design outcomes balancing commercial objectives with cultural and publicises. FJMT
FJMT is one of Australia’s foremost architectural practices. The practice continues its commitment to design excellence, executing many complex commissions. Most notable of these are The Scientia (a landmark multipurpose performance centre at the University of New South Wales) and the new Headquarters of the Historic Houses Trust, The Mint. The Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) simultaneously awarded’ The Mint’ the Sir John Sulman Award for Architectural Excellence and the Francis Greenway Award for Conservation. The jury described the project as “a gift to Sydney… an exemplary collaboration of minds and skill”. Central to its practice is the commitment to developing a humane and ecologically sensitive architectural approach whilst offering a balance between community and commercial outcomes. ASPECT / Oculus
Oculus and ASPECT Studios have joined together to create a formidable working partnership to guide the design of Barangaroo’s landscaped environments and public realm. Oculus and ASPECT are responsible for creating places at Barangaroo that works on multiple levels including places that are fun and lively to places that foster a sense of community to places that encourage a sense of public ownership. Oculus is an urban and landscape design consultancy with a unique culture. It is a progressive, highly collaborative design group responsible for numerous innovations in public realm design across Australia. ASPECT Studios specialises in landscape architecture, urban design and urban planning. It has a reputation for innovative, sustainable design outcomes, and in the last ten years has become one of Australia’s leading design companies.

Lend Lease design
Lend Lease design (LLd) is a multidisciplinary group with specialised teams in architecture and urban design, structural design, engineering, sustainability and environmental planning, community engagement and strategic supply chain management. LLd will contribute to the design effort in three ways: providing consulting services providing support services such as design management, value engineering and supply chain management and as a catalyst for change through innovation and sustainability. LAVA
LAVA operates as a unique think-tank with offices placed throughout the world. It has been formed by some of the most experienced and forward-thinking architects from around the globe. Founded in 2007 by Chris Bosse and Tobias Wallisser, LAVA has already completed iconic projects in China, Vietnam, the Middle East and Japan. SUSTAINABLE CITY AND BUILDING DESIGN
ARUP & Lend Lease Design
ARUP is Australasia’s world-class engineering, design, and planning advisory group providing Barangaroo with holistic engineering and infrastructure consulting services. Together with Lend Lease design, they will be responsible for delivering on the technical aspects of Barangaroo. ARUP has always had a special relationship with Sydney. It was ARUP’S work realising the design of Sydney Opera House in the 1960s that brought it international prominence, and ARUP remains involved in building upgrades even today. This also was the first interaction between ARUP and Lend Lease. At the time Lend Lease was working for the NSW Government to construct the foundations on which the Sydney Opera House stands. Since these early beginnings ARUP has grown across Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Pacific. It has more than 1,425 staff comprising engineers, planners, project managers and a diverse range of consulting specialists.
