Sustainability
Lend Lease passionately believes in the outcomes of an integrated sustainability approach, where the environmental, social and economic benefits combine to provide positive outcomes for the entire city.
We are committed to building on our recent global sustainability achievements and delivering a ‘restorative’ outcome for Barangaroo as a key component of the City of Sydney's, Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan.
The sustainable outcomes we seek at Barangaroo South are bold and our approach is based on a blend of simple ideas and advanced technology.
We are committed to inviting the large group of Barangaroo stakeholders to work with us and share in the outcomes that will assist in creating a new benchmark for Sustainable Sydney.
Our passionate and committed team has enjoyed key input from around the world including Joe Van Bellegham with his Dockside Green experience, the Clinton Climate Initiative and dCarbon8 who will help us during the project to take our concepts even further.

Our sustainability approach is born out of our vision for the precinct, with its unique Harbour and parkland setting and central CBD proximity. |
|
Our aspirations include;
- Inspiring architecture with healthy, light filled homes and workplaces.
- Ultra low energy buildings that respond to the environment and the people within.
- Transport links and options that make it easy to leave the car at home.
- A mixed use precinct with outdoor spaces that everyone can share and enjoy.
- Centralised precinct services that support carbon neutrality, water recycling and a reduction in waste to landfill.
- A governance structure that delivers carbon reduction and community benefits.
- A focused approach on delivering social initiatives that will assist in establishing a healthy and happy community integrated into the Sydney CBD.
- The Barangaroo Skills Exchange that will meet a wide range of learning and skilling needs
"This is an opportunity that must be done right and will set a benchmark for the world. We want to make Barangaroo the best place to live and work in Sydney.” Joe Van Belleghem |
