| What is the Barangaroo Concept Plan? |
| The concept plan is the master plan for the overall site that sets out the general design principles, such as where the public spaces must go, what the mix between residential and commercial should be, building locations, heights and sizes, street routes, walkways, transport etc. The current concept plan (known as Mod 4) was approved in December 2010. Each individual building is subject to its own planning application. Click here to view the plans for Barangaroo South. |

| Why are the current plans different from the ones selected in the 2005 Design Competition? |
| The 2005 Design competition resulted in a number of diverse designs for the site, each containing unique elements. The entry from Thalis, Birkemeier & Irwin was selected the winner of this competition, but the jury specified that a number of changes were required to their winning design to incorporate elements of the other designs which were preferred by the jury. Many of their principles were retained, but the designs have evolved to incorporate the jury’s changes and the other amendments required to meet the economic, sustainability and design objectives. |

| What public consultation has there been in this process? |
Over the past eighteen months, consultation activities have seen more than 20,000 people engage directly with the plans for Barangaroo, either face to face, at presentations, meetings , forums or public displays; online; or via the telephone information line. The feedback from these consultation activities has helped shape the refined designs for Barangaroo South and the current designs reflect this feedback. More than 1.7 million Sydneysiders have been reached through advertising and media coverage about the plans.
This consultation process will continue as each project application is lodged. |

| What safeguards are in place to prevent pollution on the site from damaging the harbour? |
Lend Lease has considerable experience in Sydney and around the world cleaning up former industrial sites.
Extensive investigation has shown that contamination levels vary considerably across the site from very low to those areas requiring remediation, in particular the former gasworks portion of the site.
Detailed remediation plans for each aspect of work will be prepared in line with the Office of Environment and Heritage requirements. All plans have to be approved by an independent accredited site auditor. Critically, the remediation action plan for the excavation and construction works outside of the former gas works location has been prepared and approved by the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure before work could start. This approval was granted in August 2011. |

| What impacts will the redevelopment of Barangaroo have on Sydney as a whole? |
Barangaroo South offers many positive benefits for Sydney and New South Wales. In addition to the 3,000 construction jobs and billions of dollars of investment during the development phase, once completed Barangaroo will be Sydney’s most advanced commercial district, with modern office space for over 23,000 workers, 6,000 of which will be net new jobs for Sydney.
Barangaroo South is forecast to contribute over $1.5billion per year to the NSW economy. It will be one of the greenest residential, leisure and business centres in the world; provide a catalyst to improve transport links into the CBD; and create a new western gateway to the city. It also is anticipated to provide a major boost for the business events and tourism sectors, with the proposed hotel adding new premium facilities for attracting major conferences and exhibitions to Sydney.
Overall the entire Barangaroo project is poised to regenerate 22 hectares of industrial wasteland, more than half of which will be reserved as public space, including 2.2km of harbour walkways, new parklands and an iconic new waterfront public place for Sydneysiders to celebrate our spectacular harbour. |

| Why is the cruise terminal being moved to White Bay? |
| The decision to relocate the cruise passenger terminal to White Bay was taken in 2008 by the then NSW Government, before Lend Lease was the selected developer for Barangaroo South. This decision has been reconfirmed by the current government following their independent Barangaroo Review, which noted that a cruise terminal is not compatible with the mixed use development planned for Barangaroo. |
